Project information

Light Valley Solar is a proposed solar and energy storage project to the north and west of Selby in North Yorkshire. The proposals include five sites where solar panels could be installed, located between Monk Fryston, Hambleton, Eggborough and Escrick.

The Project is anticipated as being able to deliver up to 500 megawatts (MW) of electricity over 60 years of operation. Clean electricity generated by the project will be supplied to the National Grid at the existing Monk Fryston substation, where a 500 MW connection has been agreed. For context, 500 MW is equivalent to powering approximately 115,000 homes annually.
