Project information

Starting in October 2024, Great Britain will completely abandon coal as a source of electricity generation. As a significant step in this direction, the coal-fired West Burton Power Station ceased its operations in 2022. The decommissioning of the West Burton Power Station offers a unique opportunity to rejuvenate the region by transitioning to clean and eco-friendly energy solutions.

The West Burton Solar Project is named after its grid connection point at the existing National Grid substation at the West Burton Power Station.
